The Association of Noise Control Engineering Inc. was established to assist the development of a high standard of technical excellence throughout its industry. It has among its aims the need to maintain the professional integrity of its members and to safeguard the interests of both their clients and the public.
Different members of the Association address different sound control issues. Some are predominantly sound isolation manufacturers - making sound isolation products like plasterboard, masonry or steel panels. Others make sound absorptive materials like fibreglass insulation, rockwool and other materials. Member companies may also use these materials in their designs or the products they sell.
Through the Association member companies are kept informed on advances in technologies, standards and regulations. Where required the Association also assists in the drafting of appropriate legislation or the preparation of standards for the control of noise.
Because of the need to encourage and foster students into the profession the Association works with tertiary institutions to see that they are made aware of the requirements of the industry.
A code of ethics has been established and members are expected to be fair and honest in all dealings with people requiring their expertise.
Education...
Improving community awareness of the issues surrounding noise control is high on the agenda of the Association. It supports educational programs which highlight the health risks associated with exposure to noise and conducts seminars for those concerned with noise in the workplace.
